I will be there as well. It should be a good time. There is a lot of stuff planned, lots to see, and its extra special this year with the 50th anniversary of Minuteman on alert. I can't promise you anything about the weather though.

Yup. It was the first Minuteman LF on alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis and has been operational ever since.

Hope to see many of you in Great Falls.

I will be joined in Great Fall by three other AF Missileers who were also members of the same Atlas-D launch maintenance crew from FE Warren.

My wife always refers to these meetings as or five B trips. “Bases, busses, buffets, briefings and booze.”

Cheers,

Jim

Reunion is over and I had a great time meeting many people that were involved in the crisis. Hope to stay in touch with those I met and old friends who re-kindled our friendships.
Association of Air Force Missileers, Charlie Simpson did a great job of making this all happen.

"Winners Of Cold War" Patches, Coins, Shadow Boxes and :Cold War Legacy, History of Strategic Air Command book, still available. Send me your email address for PayPal.

I totally agree with that. Charlie puts in a lot of work and does a fantastic job. Malmstrom was my fourth AAFM reunion and my wife and I enjoyed it very much.

I wish I would have had more time to attend more of the functions. I was super busy all week. I'm glad everyone had a good time though.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this AAFM reunion and 50th anniversary as successful as it was.

I only worked at Minot and never have been to Malmstrom. When we went to A-06 I was suprised to see an LF in the mountains rather than in the middle of a flat wheat field.

It depends what part of the missile field you are in. Some is flat/rolling plains, other parts are in the forest or mountains. A nice variety driving to the LFs. However, the routes driving to the MAFs are pretty much the same. By the time I LFAed, I pretty much had every tree, house, etc. along the route memorized, as pretty much any missileer could attest to.

For those who couldn't attend, attached is a picture of a patch display a friend and I put together for the 50th anniversary. It used all the Minuteman patches we have collected over the years from eBay and other sources. The attached picture is of Wings 1 thru 3. I will attach the other wings below. Enjoy!
