Cartoons About Nukes

One of my favorite on-line comic strips, Dinosaur Comics, recently had a fun episode involving lost nuclear weapons:

It's a question I ask when debating rabid anti-nuke folk, "Would you rather use bayonets?" Usually they wouldn't.

My prediction is that as society becomes more technology-based, EMP weapons will become the nuclear weapons of the 21st Century. Deterrence will shift from threats of massive destruction to "We'll wipe out every last electronic circuit you've got if you attack us". You won't have the fallout or blast/heat waves, but the damage would be almost as bad. Think about it: economies, transportation, communication, all technology-powered. To quote a Kraftwerk song, it's a "Computer world". Granted, I'm an internet generation kid, so that flavors my perspective.

My first thought when the power drops is "Aww crap...must...find...back-up source". (Followed by: "How's my air?")
