Movie "The Atomic Cafe"

Guess this a musing more than anything else but I just watched the movie "The Atomic Cafe". While often humorous, it is a straight complilation of documentary and public service from the the 1950s and 1960s. Easy to relate to when you grew up in the 1950s like me but being young you don't remember a lot of what was going on. Like the goverment convincing that the atom bomb is really your friend. Until I watched I never knew that the late Senator Lloyd Bentsen advocating nuking North Korea during the Korean war when he was congressman.

A couple of the actual quotes from historical archives:

Army information film: When not close enough to be killed, the atomic bomb is one of the most beautiful sights in the world.

Civil defense film: Be sure to include tranquilizers to ease the strain and monotony of life in a fallout shelter. A bottle of 100 should be sufficient for a family of four. Tranquilizers are not a narcotic, and are not habit-forming.
