4th ACCS

Hi there, The other day my mother gave me a coffee cup that belonged to my Uncle. On it was written "Chris" on one side and "4th ACCS" on the other. Now I knew my uncle had been an officer in the air force and worked in SAC. My mom said that they called him Chris even though his name was William Christofolis, because his last name was too long. Does anybody here remember the unit? Was is a large unit or small enough where there's a chance somebody knew him?

Any info would be appreciated either about the unit, or at best if somebody knew him. I really didnt know him, he pasted during a SAR mission when i was young in the 70's.

When I was assigned to the unit (1989-1992), the 4 ACCS was billed as the largest flying squadron in the USAF. I don't recall the exact number but I'm pretty sure it was hundreds. Nevertheless, although it was a large squadron I believe we prided ourselves in considering everyone "family" and I would be surprised if someone was assigned who didn't know the last names, at least, of everyone in the unit. I suspect there were even many who knew first names. I can tell you that if he was in the squadron while I was, he did a darned good job of staying hidden as I don't recall the name at all.

I too was assigned to the ACCS from 1989 to 1992. Don't remember him... Does anyone remember Bob McIntyre? Know his whereabouts?
