New MM3 upgrades

Check out this news article from the Helena (MT) paper about MM3 upgrades - look at the video to see how fast that B-plug goes up! And, emergency power for the b-plug? wow. See REACT in action too. (I left a few months before REACT upgrades started - the keys are within 6 feet of each other?)

They are in the Deuce MPT! The console has the Deuce LCP and Auxillary Alarm Panel, and the LCC is bigger. That was a nice article to read though and its nice to see the AF is sending money our way.

The key and switches are fairly close to each other, but there are 4 of them now, so one person still can't turn both at the same time.

Yup, definitely the Deuce MPT. The easiest way to tell is the AAP...it's got more lights on it than downtown NYC! (which is great until stuff starts breaking...then it's almost painful to go on alert-hurts the eyes)

Looks like they pulled the story and the video. I wonder if it's due to telling too much about the MMIII security upgrades, or the Independent is just too cheap on their HD storage. :D

It's still on their web page.
Go to: http://www.helenair.com/ Then near the upper middle of the page is the section named "Popular". Click on that and then you can find it from there.

Maybe I am missing it somehow, but I don't see it there either.

The dirtbags must have used up both megabits of memory on their server and dumped it. It was still there when I posted before noon today, but its gone now.

Interesting article. However, with all due respect to the Wing CC, what he is quoted saying in there about Peacekeeper isn't quite correct. Peacekeeper carried up to 10 RVs; not 3 as stated in the article. Also, the LGM-30G was deployed by the early 70s, before Peacekeeper even entered development. Nor was it modified to carry multiple RVs as a result of Peacekeeper being deactivated. The 30G was designed from the start as a MIRV platform.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I wasn't sure if the reporter misquoted the CC or not.

A misquote certainly seemed most likely, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. :?

ICBMGuy wrote:I believe you all meant the Vice Wing CC and not Wing CC. I can guarantee you that the reporter misquoted him regarding the number of warheads and PK. I worked with Col Gydesen when he was at FEW as the OSS/CC and the then at 20th AF when the wing was going through PK deact. He is sharp as a tack and knows his stuff...not to mention a great guy to work for. He would NEVER say that PK was capable of carrying up to three warheads. Damn reporters!!! :D

Paul was my next door neighbor on base back in the mid 80's when we were Lts. He was 564th and I was 12th. Unless asbestos induced old timers disease has set in, I'd say he remembers his old system had the ability to carry 3 RVs.

My guess is the reporter kluged the story of el forko grande birds going to the 10th, 12th, and 490th with PK shutting down in the early "aughts."

I'm not sure I'd call them "Damn Reporters", but I would go as far as calling them Damn Stupid.

I have been told that I am the local systems expert on the new Fast B-Plug system. I guess thats because I am the only one that has really been training it and have been the only one to devote time to adequately learn it. It is damned fast. One thing I like to tell my students is that the standard "old" system is painfully slow as some of you may or may not have experience with. The new system is what I like to call "Dangerously Fast". There are safeguards in place that would boggle someone who hasn't seen that B-plug go from full down to up and locked in under 20 seconds. There is a crazy amount of speed and power.

Do you show your students the video of the fast B-plug cutting a pig in half?
