The "old" travel speed for the B-plug up or down was 9" per minute, 2"per minute if lowered by the drill. Crap, why do I remember this stuff when I can't remember what I did yesterday?

What is in place of the EMLA now? A hydraulic system?

It is still a mechanically driven screwjack. The difference being there is a huge DC motor driving the main gear attached to said screw jack. We supply a mother lode of DC power to the motor and it spins at roughly 3000 rpms on the up command and about 800 or so on down.

The system is incredilbly faster.

I guess thats because I am the only one that has really been training it and have been the only one to devote time to adequately learn it. It is damned fast. One thing I like to tell my students is that the standard "old" system is painfully slow as some of you may or may not have experience with. The new system is what I like to call "Dangerously Fast". There are safeguards in place that would boggle someone who hasn't seen that B-plug go from full down to up and locked in under 20 seconds. There is a crazy amount of speed and power.

Oh yes, we know! But with the turbo b-plug, when do you get time to play hackysack or hockey on the launcher closure? Sounds like a regression to me. :D

I do have more questions about the turbo b-plug, but we'd probably run into OPSEC issues.
