Directions to the Open House Labor Day Weekend Saturday 3-Sep-11.

Take Highway 34 east from I25 to the Greeley business bypass (5.8 miles). Take the bypass for about 2.2 miles and turn left onto CO 257 spur road. This is a short distance past the stop light near the Promontory business park. There is a sign on the right side of the highway pointing to the turn. Travel about .5 miles and turn right just past a cattle operation. The campground is at the end of the road.

When I was at AFROTC summer camp at March AFB in 1968 we were able to see the Atlas missiles stored at Norton AFB. At that time I did not I would wind up in a Minuteman LCC

I visited my son that weekend (he's in some sort of Navy radiation masters program at CSU), and I was hoping to carve out a bit of time to hit the open house. I mentioned this, and to my surprise, both the son and daughter-in-law wanted to ride along.

Anyway, we managed to get there shortly before y'all closed. You folks were gracious and knowledgable.

But I have a question ... just what DID you do with all that space on site? :D

BTW, I was the guy in the power wheelchair. The red wheelchair, if that helps to identify me.

I do remember you and I mentioned you to Colonel Simpson and I could not remember your name. I told him you were stationed in Italy together. Most of the space was filled with the equipment. AC units, generators, air compressors, fuel, oxygen, helium and nitrogen skids. There wasn’t much space in the missile bay when the missile was mated to the erector and the re-entry vehicle was attached. Hope that answers your question.

If you contact Pete Ambrose at (970) 381-7451 he will do a private tour if requested. Sorry I missed you at the Tucson National meeting last October.

Cheers,

Jim
