It really looks like this guy gets the sobering experience of seeing "Liftoff" illuminate. Although I never turned keys, I did have the "keys switches broke, start launch sequence with a wire in the back of CMG-1" scenario of during a MPT ride tho!

The end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI) can be visualized pretty easily when you've seen a Titan II.

Minuteman, being remote from the capsule, and almost never seen by a MCCM, just doesn't have that impact.

Strange that you was given a problem and had to launch with a jumper. Our crew was in a meeting about launch control in 1962/63. I stated that I thought I could launch the missile with a jumper and was told it was absolutely imposable.
They did how ever put a lock in the door with in weeks.

I recall being told that a jumper could be used to launch the bird (I think this was info passed informally from BMAT to BMAT), but I think you meant to post this at

There was a procedure in T.O. 121 which was TCCPs" Tactical Continuation Countdown Procedure" that showed you how to start the launch sequence manually. It could only be used after one key turn attempt had been tried and failed. There was a jumper wire in the EWO tool box of a certain length. You would touch one end of the wire to terminal xxx and the other end to terminal YYY in the back of CMG 1 rack and at the proper EWO time to start the launch sequence. This was put in place to be used after the release of the weapon had been authorized. It was there in case the switches malfunctioned or a key was lost or broken. We were trained on this in the MPT and even on DOV check rides. It was not classified but it just was not talked about much. This would only have been used once you had a valid launch message and the BVLC had been unlocked and had attempted a launch an received a hold. After a key turn all trouble shooting was done out of TCCPs The saying was once in TCCPs always in TCCPs.
