Titan II Video

Postby SAC_COP on Mon Sep 17, 2007 12:32 am

Found THIS video that someone took at the Titan II museum explaining the Launch procedure for the weapon.

Really nice video of a TOUR of the Titan II museum at DM with one of the best speechs by President Ronald Reagan over the video.

A 32 second video of a Titan launch at VANDYLAND.

That second video belongs to a friend of mine, who lives about 45 minutes from one of the abandoned AZ Titan II sites. He's been in it before and from the pictures he's shown me, the access portal is hasn't been filled in, and you can enter the site through the long cableway opening (apparently they didn't backfill it on this site). I guess he said it was near Empirita, but I never could find the site number.

This was his good video on the museum, and he had one on the abandoned site but he took it down.

COOL! Why don't you see if he'll post it here as an addition to our growing collection?

I'll contact him, and see if he still has it. Where exactly do I post it?

Well, I talked to my friend. He's away at the academy, and the video is on his other computer, which is in storage. When he gets back and he sends it to me, I'll post it up here.

Let me know what you think. I had a lot of footage I was going to use, but wasn't able to cut it in.

Nick,

I just left a comment to you at YouTube.

This is a great video. I always told myself to never look back and start reminiscing but have been lately and this vid really floods me with memories.

Is there any way I can get this in mpg or avi format. I will pay ALL expenses if there are any.

Bill Swisher made a movie at one of the sites. titled "Those Galliant 390th Missileers", somewhere around '70 or '71. (As I recall, he did spell it galliant.) I've always wondered what ever happened to this movie, and if it ever got put on tape, or later on DVD. I remember an oatmeal container attached to a post topside, impersonating a periscope, and a vague memory of IG or SMES evaluators showing up on motorcycles (invisible ones).
