PK idiosyncracies

Postby TDRSS on Mon Oct 05, 2009 7:11 pm

Being an "A-sider", I'm familiar with the term RAMO (radio mode) - heck, I even named my orange tabby cat Ramo! (may he rest in peace)

Why did PK change the name to RADMO, from the Minuteman phrasing? Yeah, it sticks an extra letter in there, and the fundamentals are similar. Were there other "rephrasings" that changed from Minuteman to PK that were just plain st---d ("not well thought out")?

Cheers,
TDRSS

Interesting. Deuce guys never called it RAMO in the first place. We said UHF Mode or OS328. Relic of PKRG or something like that?

Now that makes a lot of sense. REACT-A displays were probably constrained to 4 characters to fit in the flight display. That wasn't an issue in CDB (CDB please, Deuce was Minuteman as well) since they had a light on the LSMIP for it.
