Just thought I ought to praise the insulated travel mug: holds 12+ ounces and keeps my tea hot for an hour and warm up to 2 hours. Haven't kept it closed to check temps at various times, cuz that would be silly.

Yet, it wouldn't be unreasonable for any one of us to do...we are after all, Missileers.

A lot of us likely have the temperament to do that, and the equipment. I'm clean out of thermocouples, myself. Do have a thermometer that could work. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

OK, I boiled water and filled my mug at 0922. At 1145, I checked: half full, and 133 degrees.

OK did you use a calibrated thermometer with a current PMEL cert. within thirty days? What was the boiling temp? We're you at sea level if not did you compensate for altitude? Was your boil a rolling boil or was it a nucleate boil? All these questions need to be answered so we can draw the proper conclusions for analysis !!!

BMATs! Troublemakers, and Critical Error Finders/Makers! First BMAT I went out with as a spare MCCC asked me on our second alert why I didn't trust him. (Told him it was because I didn't trust myself; I was nervous in the service. Big bird loaded with nasty dangerous propellants, and all.)

I said earlier I had no thermocouples. Used a meat thermometer. I'm about 210 feet ASL; can't see the Mighty Pacific Ocean from my house, but I can go 2 blocks up the hill to the road to the hill-top, and from there I can. Boiling is therefore just under 212F. I'm presuming it was a roiling boil as the teapot whistle was full-blast shrill, which must increase the pressure just a tad. Or maybe a skosh. There, or thereabouts. Close enuf fer gummint work!

And thank you and the horse you rode in on for asking.

Another point: Liquid does not pour freely from the spout. with is approx. 1/8x3/8", with no external air relief. I find I have to sip open-mouthed at it, inhaling air and cooling the drink.. At first I thought that my tea-bags or ice was interfering with it. but noooooooooooo. If you or someone else knocks it flat, spillage will be minimal as long as you pick it right up. Unless the lid's loose; really loose. As we all know: Loose Lids Sink Ships! MWAH, HAH, HAH, HAH, HAH!

Received my print of the TITAN II from John. He did a fantastic job on it had my name a number of alerts placed on it. Its still at the frame shop. It will look real nice above the EWO clock. Was so impressed with Johns work we are having him do one of a B24J named Luck and Stuff. My wifes uncle was a tail gunner on Luck and Stuff on his 24th mission over Berlin when they were shot down he along with the bottom turret gunner and flight engineer were killed the rest of the crew survived and were captured and spent the rest of the war as POWs. This will make a nice memorial to him and his fellow crew members. Want my kids and grand kids to see this and know what these guys gave so that they can live in a free country. John does great work and I highly recommend him.

Silo Warrior, Terror of Tucson, and everyone else: When I commissioned John to do "My" Minuteman III several years ago, I had no idea how popular John would become within our community and around the world. I asked him to do it, bcecause there was no other rendering of our Weapon System(s), and I wanted something to show my kids and eventually my grandkids. John became really excited and interested in Missileers from my request and turned to you guys for answers for the details which I just didn't have. John is a talented artist, a great writer, and a driven perfectionist. His other works are just as good (if not better) than "my" missile, but what really sets his work apart are the detailed and interesting interviews he conducts with his clients. John is able to pull great stories out of everyone he does work for. Some are famous, some aren't; all are interesting and John has a way of telling their stories that always keeps us on the edge of our seats.
The important thing to remember is, that although John makes money doing what he has done for the Missile Community, he isn't getting rich off of us, or even sending his kids through college on what he has done for us. (John's son Curtis is looking at the USAFA for his university experience). John does the missile stuff for three reasons: Nobody else is doing it, it is interesting and historically important, and he genuinely likes us. John and I have become good friends over the past few years, so I may be a bit biased. I do believe that any and all support we give him will pay great dividends in future recognition of ICBM Missile service, that until recently has been locked in the dusty janitor's closet of history, or has been hauled out from under a rock (where it should never have been) for all to see.

Silo: I know that John will do you, and the memory of your wife's Uncle proud.

Bob,

John has done a fantastic job on the print. It will keep the memory of her uncle and all the airman who gave the greatest sacrifice there is alive for future generations to see. The family will be very grateful and honored to have this print. Like I said earlier I highly recommend John.
